Launch gears up for the 2nd annual TEDxWooster

On Febraury 15th, Launch will help to host the 2nd annual TEDxWooster event. For those of you familiar with TEDTalks, TEDx is an independently organized TED event. TEDxWooster is has been made possible over the past two years by senior Christina Haupt who had the passion and the drive to put the event together. This year, Launch has helped Christina with the planning and organization of the event which will take place on Saturday, February 15th in Freedlander Theater. This year’s theme – “Double Take” – reflects TEDxWooster’s 2nd year in existence. It is also a reminder that people, situations and certain events are not always as they seem, and second chances are a must. This year,  there will be nine different speakers and two bands giving their own spin on the theme of Double Take.

The event is free and open to the public so join us on February 15th! Doors open at 1:30pm, the event begins at 2pm and lasts until 6:30pm. There will be catering from Spoon Market during breakout/networking sessions.

“Twelve Ways to Make Money Using Technology”

Serial entrepreneur Tom Montelione will be speaking about the “Twelve Ways to Make Money Using Technology” at this week’s club meeting. Mr. Montelione is the president of Vertex Software Inc and participated as a judge in Launch’s Idea Competition on Friday. Join us on Thursday, Oct. 24th at 6:30pm in the Tartan Room to hear from Mr. Montelione.

Students attend the WOLF Kick-Off

A Good Start to the Year…

This past Friday, Launch participated in Wooster’s annual “Scot Spirit Day” in the Oak Grove. Every year, many of the schools various organizations set up a table and promote there club, hoping to spark the interest of new freshman and gain new members. Last year, the Launch, then named the E-Club, did not have a table due to the club being in transition of leaders and advisors. This year, Launch was back and ready to tell the school about its exciting plans for the year. t Many interested students stopped by the table to inquire about Launch and sign up for the club’s emailing list. Over 70 students signed up, marking what must be a record breaking year for Scot Spirit Day recruitment.

The year seems to be off to a good start. If you signed up, being looking out for an email this week about our first kick-off meeting in the Tartan Room
